Belarusian students win 3 medals at International Geography Olympiad

Belarusian students won three medals at the seventh International Geography Olympiad that was held in Tunisia, BelTA learnt from Belarusian Education Ministry official Nadezhda Ganushchenko.

The silver medal went to the student of Vitebsk gymnasium No 2 Stanislav Alimpov; the students from Mogilev and Uzda (the Minsk oblast) Alexei Veko and Artem Sakharevich won the bronze medals.

Apart from a written response test and a multimedia test the Olympiad consisted of a three day fieldwork through Tunisia with two mapping exercises and a knowledge test. The working language of the tournament was English.

Belarus has participated in the Geography Olympiad for the fourth time. In 2002, the Belarusian team was the third best performing country.
