Twelve countries to take part in Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno festival

12.06.2018  Performers from twelve countries will take part in the 25th edition of the Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno international song and music festival, BelTA learned from head for ideology, culture and youth of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee Lyudmila Dudareva.

“The forum will take place on 23-24 June and will bring together about 1,000 participants from all over Belarus, as well as from Romania, Slovakia, Russia (Tatarstan), Moldova, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Poland. For the first time the forum will be attended by performers from Denmark and India. Some countries will delegate their representatives for the second or even third time and these will be new performers. This is the best testimony to the appeal of our festival,” Lyudmila Dudareva underlined.

She informed that the participants from far away will arrive in Dubrovno on 22 June. This day will be packed with events that include celebrations of the 625th anniversary of the town, a solemn procession of local residents and participants of the festival and the “Honorable Citizen of Dubrovno District” awarding ceremony. It will be followed by commemoration of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and an informal meeting. The festival will take place in 16 venues in Dubrovno and agro-towns of the district. There will be themed booths dedicated to the anniversaries of the town and the festival. On that day a town clock will be unveiled.

The program of the festival features a pop song contest, a contest of traditional penny whistles, several exhibitions. Belarusian playwright Aleksei Dudarev, a native of this land, will also attend the festival. One of the traditions of the festival is holding a commemorative meeting at the Rylenki Memorial Complex where over 10,000 people liberating the land are buried. After the opening ceremony, the participating teams will proceed to concert venues. The day will conclude with an open air concert and a dance party. The municipal stadium will become the center stage of the festival on the second day. A theatrical procession will be followed by a gala concert of 25 teams. The Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno festival was first held in 1993. Before 2004 the geography of the forum was limited to Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, the brotherly Slavonic nations united by the Dnieper River. Latvia joined the festival in 2006. A year later Lithuania and Estonia made part of the celebrations. In 2004 the song and music festival Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno received the status of the international event.
