More than 20 road service facilities will be constructed in the Vitebsk oblast in 2008, head of the transport and communications department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Sergei Shmatov told BelTA. 

According to him, eight of them – five road cafes and two gas-filling stations will be put into operation in H1 this year. Four cafes, four rest areas and three guarded parking areas are being constructed now. Three road cafes more are being renovated now.

To intensify the development of the road service, the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee has initiated the development of standard complex road service facilities.

The Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee has also sent a proposal to the Ministry of Transport and Communications to permit the use of foreign currency to make payments in the road service facilities.
