Belarus raises Br30m to help Haiti
VITEBSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The Belarusians have donated over Br30 million to the Belarusian Red Cross Society (BRCS) to help the Haiti earthquake victims, BRCS Secretary General Viktor Kolbanov told reporters in Vitebsk. He is taking part in a session of the Presidium of the Vitebsk Oblast branch of the BRCS.
The Belarusian Red Cross Society launched the charity campaign in mid January; it means that this sum was raised within half a month. “Our people are still ready to show compassion,” Viktor Kolbanov underlined. In addition, in the first days of the tragedy the BRCS Presidium allocated about Br14 million to help the people of Haiti facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
The money raised by the BRCS is transferred to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The BRCS continues raising funds appealing to the population, organizations and companies of Belarus. The money can be transferred to the BRCS bank account 3015200990017 at Belinvestbank, Minsk, code 764, tax identification number 100265026, indicating that the money is transferred for the Help Haiti campaign.
